It is one of the advantageous characteristic of operating system. This feature allows the application to run on one computer also run on another computer with the same operating system.
Program Execution:
Execution of program is complicated process. Executing all the programs running in a computer system depends on the operating system install in it. Some operating system allows the user to use it for multitasking also allows to run different type of program at the same time.
Interrupts:
An operating system requires a good number of interrupts to act with the immediate external environment. it must have the capability to start a new process and off the current process after receiving an intrupt.
